Legacy Open Author Resources Being Retired 12/31/2026

On December 31st 2026, all resources created in the original Open Author editor (released in 2012, also known as “Open Author 1”) will be removed from OER Commons (oercommons.org). Resources created in Open Author 2 (released in 2016) will not be affected.
Users wishing to preserve their Open Author 1 resources can do so in a variety of formats, including by recreating them in Open Author 2. OER Commons staff have outlined the steps to do so in this guide, and prepared a Q&A which will be updated regularly over the next few months.
